Quick selection matrix
Use this table to organize the first technical discussion. The approved project drawing and local requirements always take priority.
| Configuration | Typical planning use | Key point to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Integrated countdown face | Compact combined indication | Front layout, digits, colors and maximum count |
| Separate countdown section | Modular multi-section signal head | Housing size, section order and mounting |
| Pedestrian countdown | Crosswalk remaining-time information | Walk/clearance sequence and symbol behavior |
| Vehicle or arrow countdown | Fixed-time road or access-control applications | Controller logic and local approval |
Start with the timing method
Identify how the countdown receives or learns timing information. The project may use a direct controller output, a communication interface or another approved timing method. Provide the controller model, output voltage, phase diagram and timing schedule. Without this information, a timer that fits mechanically may still be electrically or logically incompatible.
Confirm what the display should show during red, yellow and green phases, how it behaves when a phase is skipped or extended, and whether the number color changes with the active indication. Adaptive or demand-responsive junctions require particular care because phase duration may not remain constant.
Choose the display arrangement
Countdown information may be integrated into a signal face, installed as an additional section or mounted in a separate housing. The correct arrangement depends on the required viewing distance, available pole space, maintenance plan and local standard. Specify digit height, number of digits, display color, maximum count and orientation.
The signal schedule should separately list the traffic indication and countdown function. For combined products, request a front layout and dimensional drawing. This confirms the relative position of the ball, arrow, pedestrian or bicycle symbol and the numeric display before manufacture.
Information required for a quotation
Send the signal phase plan, controller information, operating voltage, maximum countdown value, display color, signal size, number of sections, mounting method, quantity and applicable standard. If the timer replaces an existing unit, also provide photographs, dimensions and wiring information from the current installation.
GAOQIAO can review vehicle, pedestrian, bicycle and arrow signal combinations with countdown displays. Final compatibility and compliance should be confirmed from the complete project documentation rather than inferred from a product name alone.
