Pedestrian Traffic Lights for Crosswalk Projects

Pedestrian signals must communicate one simple decision clearly: wait or cross. For a project buyer, the correct product also has to match the viewing distance, crossing layout, controller sequence, mounting arrangement and local symbol requirements. GAOQIAO supplies configurable pedestrian signal heads in several nominal sizes and combinations for crosswalk and intersection projects.

Quick selection matrix

Use this table to organize the first technical discussion. The approved project drawing and local requirements always take priority.

Choose the signal by crossing conditions

Begin with the approved crossing drawing rather than a catalogue photograph. Confirm the number of approaches, expected viewing distance, mounting height, background conditions and whether the pedestrian indication is installed separately or combined with vehicle and bicycle signals. A compact signal may suit a short controlled crossing, while a larger optical face can be considered where the viewing distance or road environment requires greater conspicuity.

The red and green symbols should follow the project specification. Static standing and walking figures are common, while dynamic walking indications or a countdown display may be requested for a different operating sequence. Symbol artwork, orientation and color order should be confirmed on a drawing before production.

Configuration options to confirm

State the nominal diameter, housing arrangement, number of sections, symbol type and operating voltage for every head. Also identify the required visor, contrast board, mounting bracket, cable entry and pole interface. If a countdown unit is included, specify whether it is a separate face or integrated with the pedestrian head and explain how it receives timing information from the controller.

Do not assume that a pedestrian signal is automatically compatible with an existing controller. The controller output, signal voltage, timing logic and any communication method must be checked as one system. For replacement projects, photographs of the existing head and mounting point are useful, but dimensional drawings and electrical information are still required.

Typical applications

Pedestrian traffic lights are used at urban intersections, school-zone crossings, factory entrances, transport terminals, car parks and access-controlled sites. The same product family may be configured differently for a new junction, a retrofit or a temporary crossing. Environmental conditions such as strong sunlight, rain, dust, low temperature and coastal exposure should be included in the request for quotation so suitable materials and protection requirements can be reviewed.

For a complete inquiry, provide the crossing drawing, signal schedule, quantity, destination, required standard, installation method and expected delivery date. GAOQIAO can then review the requested signal arrangement and identify any information that should be confirmed before production.
