High-Power LED Traffic Signals: 200mm and 300mm Specs

A high-power LED traffic signal specification should identify the indication, nominal face diameter, power per illuminated aspect, supply-voltage version and complete housing arrangement. For the current NJGQ range, the two 200mm heads are specified at 7W per aspect, while the 300mm yellow-housing full ball head is specified at 8W per aspect. These figures describe individual illuminated aspects, not a complete operating intersection.

Compare the three current signal heads

The pedestrian head has two vertically arranged aspects. Each vehicle head has three. A full ball indication is a circular vehicle signal; it does not replace the standing and walking symbols used on the pedestrian head. Housing colour also does not establish face diameter. Specify the size and indication on every order line, even when the assemblies look similar in a catalogue photograph.

Read the power figure at the correct level

The 7W or 8W specification applies to one illuminated lamp aspect, meaning one colour or one pedestrian indication. Counting the number of sections in the housing does not establish its normal operating power. A three-aspect 8W head would total 24W only under an assumed all-three-on calculation; this arithmetic does not describe its normal traffic sequence or approve that operating state.

For an equipment schedule, list the number of illuminated aspects in each approved phase. Include controller consumption and any other equipment separately. Energy use over time depends on the phase durations and operating conditions. The term high-power LED describes the product light-source category and does not by itself establish a measured brightness advantage, an energy-saving percentage or a specific visibility distance.

Select a supply version before approving the order

The three products are offered in separate 190–265VAC, 12VDC, 32–42VAC and 24VDC electrical versions. The pedestrian head additionally offers an AC110V version. These are ordering choices, not one universal AC/DC input. An AC110V choice for the pedestrian product must not be assumed to apply to either vehicle product.

Record the controller output type and intended supply alongside the selected product. Similar-looking housings can contain different electrical versions. The AC and DC supply-version guide explains the information to keep together during ordering and replacement.

Separate housing specifications from optical evidence

The current range is specified with IP65 ingress protection, 100% polycarbonate housings and an operating-temperature range of −40°C to +60°C. Nominal 200mm or 300mm face size is not the complete housing height, bracket spacing or installation envelope. Use the model drawing to confirm the mounting arrangement.

For a project requiring optical classes, light intensity, phantom performance or a particular certification, request documentation that matches the selected model and configuration. Those values cannot be established from the wattage, a bright photograph or another manufacturer's specification. Keep the project requirement and supplied evidence as separate entries until they have been checked.

Questions to settle before ordering

Does high-power mean that a 200mm head consumes more than a 300mm head?

No fixed size-to-power rule follows from the name. In this NJGQ range, the confirmed figures are 7W per illuminated aspect for the 200mm products and 8W for the 300mm product. Compare the exact model and measurement scope.

Are black and yellow full ball heads the same size?

The two products described here are different sizes: black housing is 200mm and yellow housing is 300mm. Use the product name, nominal diameter and drawing together when identifying the order.

What information should accompany a specification request?
