High-power LED traffic signal selection
AC and DC Traffic Signal Heads: Supply-Version Guide
26 October 2026 · Nanjing Gaoqiao Traffic Technology Co., Ltd.
Choose a traffic signal head by the electrical version required at the signal's input. NJGQ's current high-power pedestrian and full ball products offer separate 190–265VAC, 12VDC, 32–42VAC and 24VDC versions. The 200mm pedestrian head also offers AC110V. Listing several options does not mean that one supplied unit accepts every listed voltage or both AC and DC.
Match each voltage option to the actual product
| Supply version | 200mm pedestrian | 200mm black full ball | 300mm yellow full ball |
|---|---|---|---|
| 190–265VAC | Available version | Available version | Available version |
| 12VDC | Available version | Available version | Available version |
| 32–42VAC | Available version | Available version | Available version |
| 24VDC | Available version | Available version | Available version |
| AC110V | Additional available version | Not listed in the confirmed range | Not listed in the confirmed range |
AC and DC are part of the specification, not optional wording. A 24VDC product is not a substitute for a 32–42VAC product merely because both are described as low voltage. For a nominal mains supply, confirm that the actual project supply falls within the selected version's documented range. Do not infer an unlisted frequency, polarity arrangement or transient rating from this options table.
Confirm the controller output as well as the power source
The voltage available at the installation and the output provided by the controller must both match the chosen signal version. A controller may use switching contacts or another output arrangement; the presence of a 12V or 24V source elsewhere in the cabinet does not establish the signal input specification.
Keep the signal-head model, input version, wiring diagram and controller interface on the same order record. Connector fit and wire colour alone are insufficient evidence of compatibility. For replacements, record the installed unit's label and approved drawing before selecting the new version. Electrical installation should follow the supplied configuration-specific documentation and the project's commissioning procedure.
Keep per-aspect wattage distinct from supply voltage
The confirmed product figures are 7W per illuminated aspect for the 200mm pedestrian and 200mm black full ball heads, and 8W per illuminated aspect for the 300mm yellow full ball head. These power figures do not establish that any unit is a universal-input design.
For an illustrative DC budget, a 7W input load at exactly 12V corresponds to approximately 0.58A using I = P/V. This estimate assumes that 7W is the actual input power under that condition; it does not include additional equipment or establish a measured starting current. AC input current also depends on power factor and cannot generally be calculated by treating watts divided by volts as the complete specification. Obtain version-specific electrical data when sizing the installation.
Label mixed-version orders clearly
Where one shipment contains several electrical versions, give each combination its own line item. A useful line includes the product type, face diameter, housing colour, selected input, quantity and approved drawing revision. Ask for the same identification on the product label and packaging so the equipment can be checked before installation.
For example, a 200mm pedestrian head in an AC110V version and a visually similar head in a 24VDC version should remain separate order lines. Likewise, keep the 200mm black full ball and 300mm yellow full ball products separate even if both use the same selected supply version. Read the high-power signal specification guide for the size and indication comparison.
Common supply-version questions
Can I change voltage by changing the connector?
Changing the connector does not establish electrical compatibility. Use the supplied unit's label, driver specification and wiring documentation. Obtain manufacturer confirmation for a different electrical version before making a substitution.
Does IP65 mean that every listed voltage is accepted?
IP65 is the product's stated ingress-protection rating. It does not define AC/DC compatibility, input-voltage range, surge tolerance or controller interface. Review those as separate specifications.
Which product information should I send to NJGQ?
Send the existing label or required supply, controller interface, indication, nominal diameter, quantity and destination. Use sky-sale@njgq.net for a configuration review. Current product pages are the 200mm pedestrian signal, 200mm black full ball signal and 300mm yellow full ball signal.
