Quick selection matrix
Use this table to organize the first technical discussion. The approved project drawing and local requirements always take priority.
| Configuration | Typical planning use | Key point to confirm |
|---|---|---|
| Tripod portable signal | Compact or short-duration temporary control | Stability, signal height, battery and transport method |
| Trailer-mounted solar signal | Road work and longer temporary deployment | Autonomy, wind stability and towing arrangement |
| Two-unit shuttle control | Alternating single-lane traffic | Distance, timing plan and fail-safe behavior |
| Automated flagger assistance | Remote stopping control at work zones | Gate arm, visibility, control method and local approval |
Start with the traffic-control plan
Show the controlled approaches, lane closure, work zone, stopping positions and expected separation between units. Confirm whether the system operates as a simple alternating shuttle control, a multi-approach arrangement or an automated flagger assistance device. The approved plan determines the number of signal faces, controller sequence and communication requirement.
State the operating schedule, traffic volume, approach speed, required visibility and whether the equipment will be moved frequently. A lightweight tripod system can suit short-duration or compact applications, while a trailer or more substantial support may be considered when longer deployment, greater optical size or battery capacity is required.
Size the solar and battery system
Provide the installation region, seasonal sunlight, daily operating hours, required days of autonomy and the power consumption of every signal, controller and communication device. Solar-panel wattage and battery capacity should be calculated for the complete duty cycle, including low-sun periods. A catalogue battery value without the site and load assumptions is not enough to predict autonomy.
Also confirm the battery chemistry, enclosure ventilation, charge-controller arrangement, low-voltage protection, charging connection and maintenance access. For a mobile system, panel angle, transport position and protection against wind or impact should be shown in the mechanical drawing.
Wireless control and operating safety
If units coordinate wirelessly, specify the maximum separation, terrain, obstructions and permitted radio requirements for the destination market. The system design should define loss-of-communication behavior, manual override, fault indication, synchronization method and safe restart sequence. These functions should be demonstrated during acceptance testing rather than assumed from a stated wireless range.
For quotation, provide the traffic plan, number of approaches, signal size, required sequence, operating hours, sunlight information, autonomy target, wireless distance, support type, applicable standard, quantity and destination. GAOQIAO can then review a portable system configuration and identify the remaining project-specific details.
