Housing and electronic module are different parts
A traffic signal head is normally an assembly: the housing provides mechanical protection, while the electronic module provides the optical indication. Depending on the design, the module includes the PCB or lamp board, red/yellow/green LEDs, power supply and plastic optical components. Specify both sides of the assembly when replacing or building a signal.
What to specify

Replacement checklist
- Measure the existing diameter and section count.
- Photograph the front face, rear housing and terminal labels.
- Record the existing voltage and controller output.
- Identify ball, arrow, pedestrian or bicycle indication.
- Confirm bracket, visor and cable-entry dimensions.
