How to Pack a Mixed Traffic Light Order for Several Intersections
A project may need circular heads, arrow heads, pedestrian indications and different mounting kits in one order. The packing plan should tell the contractor which items belong at each intersection without opening every carton.
Create a head-to-carton map
Assign each installed signal a head ID on the project drawing. In the packing list, map that ID to the product SKU, drawing revision, quantity, accessory kit and carton number. If several identical heads serve one location, show their total quantity and destination.
Carton marks should make similar variants distinguishable. A left arrow and right arrow might have the same housing dimensions, but they must not share an ambiguous carton description. The same applies to input-voltage variants and different pedestrian symbols.
Decide whether to pack by model or by site
Packing by model can simplify factory counting and reduce mixed-carton errors. Packing by intersection can simplify installation. A hybrid plan may use clearly labeled model cartons grouped on pallets by destination or phase. Choose based on the contractor's unloading and storage process, then ensure the packing list reflects the physical arrangement.
If brackets and fasteners ship separately, mark the relevant carton and include a cross-reference on the head carton. A missing accessory at the site can delay installation even when all signal heads arrived.
Reconcile before dispatch
Compare the final carton count with the order schedule and pre-shipment photographs. Record any back-ordered line with its planned follow-up shipment; do not let it disappear inside a total quantity.
