Traffic Signal Cabinets: Define the Supply Boundary

14 October 2026 · GAOQIAO Traffic Technology

A “traffic signal cabinet” can mean an empty enclosure, a controller supplied separately or a wired assembly with a defined set of components. These are different procurement scopes. An enquiry that names only the cabinet can produce offers that look comparable while including very different equipment and responsibilities.

State what is being purchased

Describe whether the request is for an enclosure, controller or assembled cabinet. List the documents that define the required system and identify the designer responsible for approving them. If the specification is still being prepared, mark the open items instead of filling them with assumptions.

The controller's suitability must be reviewed against the intended phase plan and project requirements. The cabinet's physical dimensions should then be assessed for the actual equipment and interfaces. Neither an enclosure photograph nor a count of controller outputs defines a complete working system.

Build an inclusion schedule

Scope itemSpecify included, excluded or separately supplied
EnclosureDimensions, mounting detail and project protection requirement
ControllerExact model and required interface documentation
Internal equipmentComponents identified on the approved bill of materials
Wiring and terminalsResponsibility and drawing reference for the supplied assembly
Cable entriesEntry arrangement, fittings and site-side responsibility
DocumentationDrawings, labels, instructions and agreed inspection records

Use explicit descriptions for excluded items so the installer knows what must be supplied locally. Pricing comparisons become more useful when every offer answers the same inclusion schedule.

Check the physical interfaces

Request a layout drawing with the proposed equipment positions. Review cable-entry space, access to terminals and maintenance access with the responsible engineer. Also identify the mounting method and available site footprint. These checks depend on the actual design; a generic clearance figure would not settle them.

Require consistent labels across the terminal schedule, wiring diagram and equipment list. Where a communication interface is requested, specify the intended system requirements and ask for evidence for the exact controller version. Avoid accepting a broad interoperability statement without the relevant documentation.

Preserve approval and handover records

Keep the approved revision of the layout, bill of materials and wiring documents with the order. Record changes made during assembly and obtain the required approval before accepting a substituted component. Commissioning and electrical work should follow the approved procedure and be performed by qualified personnel.

Send GAOQIAO the country, quantities and requested supply scope at sky-sale@njgq.net. Include the phase-plan and cabinet documents available for review. Any proposed model or assembly needs confirmation against those requirements; this checklist does not establish a particular cabinet configuration's availability.
