Traffic Light Dimensions: A Receiving Inspection Checklist

14 October 2026 · GAOQIAO Traffic Technology

A carton marked “200mm traffic light” identifies a nominal signal size. It does not tell the receiving team the complete height, depth or mounting footprint. When equipment arrives, compare the actual model and assembly with the approved drawing before releasing it for installation. This check is especially useful when an order contains both 200mm and 300mm heads.

Establish the drawing reference first

Record the purchase-order line, supplier model and drawing revision on the inspection sheet. A drawing downloaded during an earlier enquiry may describe a different bracket or number of sections. Use the version accepted for this order, including any written changes made after sample review.

Distinguish the visible signal face from the housing envelope. “8 inch” and “12 inch” are commonly used nominal size labels alongside 200mm and 300mm. They should not be used to calculate the overall dimensions of a finished head. Obtain the model drawing for the dimensions that determine fit.

Measure the interfaces that matter

Measurements should be taken on accessible, unpowered equipment using an agreed method. A mismatch in fixing centres deserves its own record even when the face diameter looks correct. Do not drill or modify a head simply to make it fit before the designer and supplier have reviewed the difference.

Keep photographs tied to each order line

Photograph the carton label, product label, front face, rear housing and supplied brackets. Put the order-line identifier in the image filename or inspection sheet. This makes a later question about a damaged visor or missing fitting traceable to a specific assembly rather than to the shipment as a whole.

Record packaging damage before unpacking. Keep dimensional discrepancies separate from cosmetic damage and missing accessories; each needs a different resolution. Where a drawing tolerance or acceptance criterion is absent, ask for clarification instead of inventing a pass limit.

Release a complete record

A useful receiving record ends with the checked drawing revision, measured values, photographs, unresolved items and the person authorised to release the equipment. Electrical and operational checks belong in the approved commissioning procedure and should be carried out by qualified personnel.

For a dimensional review with GAOQIAO, send the order line, nominal size and mounting drawing to sky-sale@njgq.net. Include the complete assembly you need, not only the face diameter.
