Define the role of the gate signal
Warehouse gate traffic lights communicate a site operating instruction, such as stop or proceed. Agree the meaning of each indication and how it relates to the barrier, access controller and local operating procedure. A signal display alone does not establish a safety-rated interlock.
Confirm the electrical interface
Obtain the barrier or access-controller wiring documentation. Identify whether the available output is a voltage output, relay contact or another interface, and check its electrical limits. Match the signal supply and any required interface equipment to the approved wiring design.
Specify operating states
Document the required indication for normal operation, denied access, barrier movement, loss of communication and loss of power. Define which equipment determines each state. Do not assume that an open barrier always authorizes passage in every site arrangement.
Check visibility and installation
Specify the viewing direction, mounting position and intended users. Consider obstructions, ambient light and the visibility of competing indications. Choose the enclosure and cable-entry arrangement for the actual location and installation requirements.
Test the agreed sequence
Qualified personnel should verify wiring and exercise the approved operating sequence before handover. Record expected and observed indications, including the agreed fault states. Keep the wiring diagram and operating instructions available for maintenance.
