Plan signal mounting around required sight lines, structural load, cable routing and safe maintenance access.
Project review
Coordinate road geometry, signal visibility, mounting interface and cable routing before approving signal-head hardware. Brackets are not generic accessories.
Buyer checklist
- Approach sight line and lane alignment
- Wind load on head and visor
- Pipe sizes and hole patterns
- Protected cable entry and access
Use a mounting schedule that identifies each location, orientation and required fasteners.

Create a location-specific mounting schedule
Give each signal-head position a reference that matches the site drawing. Record the indication, head dimensions, number of sections, visor, mounting orientation and proposed bracket. Include the existing pole or mast-arm drawing where equipment is being replaced. A photograph helps identify the arrangement, but it does not substitute for verified dimensions or structural approval.
Information needed before bracket selection
Provide the pole diameter or section, fixing-hole pattern, available clearances and cable-entry position. Identify nearby signs, lighting equipment and other attachments that the designer needs to consider. Ask for the weight and drawing of the quoted signal assembly. The responsible engineer should assess the complete support and its attachments against the project’s structural requirements; the signal supplier’s bracket drawing alone is not a foundation or pole design.
Handover and installation records
Before dispatch, match the supplied brackets and fasteners to the approved equipment schedule. Keep drawings and installation instructions with the shipment. Installation should be carried out by qualified personnel using the specified procedures and access arrangements. Record the final orientation, cable protection and any approved changes for maintenance teams. Do not substitute fasteners or modify brackets on site without the appropriate design review.
