Select a lens as part of the complete LED optical system, considering viewing angle, ambient light, visor geometry and replacement needs.
Project review
Review the governing specification, LED module, lens, visor, mounting height and approach geometry together. Lens terminology alone does not define the final on-road result.
Buyer checklist
- Fresnel optical surfaces
- Cobweb-style visual patterns
- Clear lenses with LED optics
- Sun angle, visor and maintenance
Retain the final approved configuration with project documentation for consistent future supply.

Specify the optical assembly, not just the lens name
When comparing quotations, identify the full signal-module model and indication: round, arrow, pedestrian or another specified symbol. Request the lens diameter, module fixing dimensions, visor arrangement and documentation for the quoted assembly. Two products described with the same lens term can have different construction, so a familiar name alone is not a compatibility check.
Questions for the supplier
- Does the quoted part include only the lens, the complete LED module, or the complete signal head?
- Which drawing identifies the lens, housing and fixing arrangement?
- Which optical test report applies to this model and configuration?
- Are there approved cleaning instructions and replacement-part references?
Replacing an existing lens or module
Send clear front and rear photographs, the product label and the measured fixing dimensions. State whether the existing assembly has a separate lens or integrated optics. Ask for written confirmation of the matching replacement before ordering; visual similarity in a photograph is insufficient. Keep the approved model reference and documentation with the maintenance record. Final selection and positioning should follow the project specification and the responsible engineer’s review of the crossing or approach.
