Separate delivery inspection from operational acceptance
A field acceptance plan should distinguish equipment delivery, installation checks, controlled functional testing and authorization for operation. Responsibilities belong in the project documents. Factory inspection does not replace site acceptance.
Review the installation baseline
Confirm approved drawings, controller configuration, signal assignments, mounting details and cable schedules. Check equipment identity and physical condition. Have qualified personnel verify the electrical installation and protective measures against the applicable requirements.
Test the agreed operating functions
Under the approved test and traffic-management arrangements, verify each required signal indication and its assignment. Check sequences, pedestrian functions, detection, countdown and communications only where included. Use the approved timing plan rather than copying example timings.
Verify fault response and recovery
Follow the manufacturer’s and authority’s approved procedures for required fault monitoring and recovery tests. Confirm expected indications, event records and return-to-service conditions. Do not assume all controllers use the same fault response or reset behavior.
Complete the handover record
Record observations, unresolved defects and corrective actions. Retain the accepted configuration, drawings, test results and maintenance contacts. Obtain the required authority approval before placing the installation into public operation.
