Solar warning lights are used to improve road safety in locations such as school zones, crossings, construction areas and temporary warning points.
What to check in a solar warning-light enquiry
Describe the warning function
Explain the hazard or location the light is intended to highlight and how the warning should operate. A continuously repeating flash, a scheduled warning and an externally triggered indication are different requirements. Include any required coordination between several lights and identify the equipment that will provide a trigger.
The complete application may also involve signs, supports and placement rules. Confirm those requirements with the responsible project designer. A warning light does not perform the same task as a full traffic-signal controller, and the two should not be substituted solely because both use coloured LEDs.
Review the power assumptions
Provide the installation location and expected operating schedule. Ask for the proposed panel, battery and charging configuration, together with the basis for any autonomy estimate. The estimate should reflect the selected light and operating mode rather than a generic statement about solar products.
Describe nearby shading and the intended mounting arrangement. Ask how the battery is accessed for service and which replacement specification applies. If several units are included, identify whether each has its own power system and whether the package includes the required fittings and cables.
Make the installation details explicit
Confirm the lens or display size, colour, mounting measurements and overall assembly dimensions. Request the relevant data sheet and environmental evidence for the proposed model. For a replacement, include photographs of the existing equipment and its label so that mechanical and electrical differences can be checked.
Keep the agreed configuration, operating instructions and inspection requirements with the order. Review how the operator will identify a low-power or abnormal condition and who handles maintenance. This produces a more useful comparison than selecting by panel size, lamp diameter or a general “solar powered” description alone.
