Prepare an OEM or project cooperation brief
A cooperation enquiry is most useful when it distinguishes an existing product configuration from a request for a new design. For OEM supply, identify the base model and the branding, labelling or packaging requirements. For a design change, provide the required indication, mechanical interface and electrical behaviour so the scope can be reviewed.
Use a revision-controlled drawing or requirement sheet as the common reference for discussion. List which details are mandatory and which can be proposed by the manufacturer. If a project has a required standard or approval process, include the applicable document requirements rather than assuming that a reference project covers the new configuration.
